Transforming a Beautiful Vacant Home in the Hills of Portland

More and more, banks are turning to stagers to help sell the homes that they don't want.  The economy has turned banks into owners of real estate, which is not their business.  They are in the business of financing, not being landlords.  So as numerous homeowners face foreclosure, and banks around the country are becoming the owners of multiple properties, they are trying to find ways to sell their inventory quickly.

Home stagers who have developed relationships with banks are finding great partnership opportunities.  Here is a recent property that Synergy Staging was asked to staged.

Exterior - Synergy Staging in Portland Oregon

This open and spacious home nestled in the hills of Portland is a great home, but hasn't found the right buyer.  Hopefully with the staging in place, an offer will be coming their way soon.  Here are some before and after photos of the results:

If you are not already working with banks in your area, it's worth seeking them out and seeing if there is an opportunity to work together.  They may be surprised to know that your services could be the missing link to getting their homes sold!

I'll post some larger pictures of this home on a follow up blog shortly.

We've successfully worked with banks and relocation companies as well.  Often agents seem surprised that they will pay for our services - but banks know that staging helps sell!  Your staging is always beautiful -- this is a wonderful example.  Congratulations on finding ways to succeed and thrive in every economy!

This is definitely something our company is planning to do in the areas we service!  Great job and thanks for the informative post.

David - what a gorgeous transformation. Looks like a great property to work with but you have made it shine. I know there a lot of banks out there holding property, so congratulations on getting the business!

Hi David ~ This home looks fantastic with staging courtesy of Nik and your team .... and it's in a great neighborhood.  Working with banks is a great partnership because everyone wins including the lucky buyer.  When it was vacant, this home had no soul or energy .. now it's definitely alive and whispering, "make an offer ... you'll love living here!"

Phil ~ Thank you!  We were very thrilled with the results.

Margaret ~ You are right that banks know that staging helps sell properties.  And they want to sell properties as quickly as possible.  Thanks for your nice comments.

Karen ~ I recommend researching this area of the market.  Hopefully it will work for your company.

Tessa ~ I appreciate your feedback.  It was a great property to stage.

Kathy ~ Banks that utilize the services of stagers are wise.  More realize that with the glut of empty houses on the market staging gives them the edge.

Maureen ~ Thank you! I know you have some great clients in this area that have seen terrific success.  Did you hear the house whipser that too? =)

Awesome work, David (and I love your use of patterned rugs here...huge impact in both the bath and living area).

The Hills Are Alive.... thanks to your staging, David!

I love the rug you used in the bathroom. If you want, you can send it to me (smile).

Congratulations. Your home staging is being featured in the group Staging Before and After Pictures.

Your photos show the investment is well worth it!! Simply Marvelous!!! Keep us updated. I worked today on a bank owned project and it is the second with this particular asset manager.

David, beautiful staging!

I would like to work with banks, too. How did you connect with the bank, did you simply ask for the REO department? Thanks for any information you can share about this!

David ~ Incredible job!  Not only with the staging, but to get into the banks!  I have just begun to get appointments with the REO Lenders and would love any advice you could give me.

Back to the staging,... the rich warm colors, the layout, the lighting and the photography show the professional you are!  Beautiful work ~ I can't wait to see how quickly this sells!  How long was this house on the market for prior to the staging?

Simply gorgeous David! I LOVE the living room rug and furniture. All the rooms are crisp, cohesive and beautifully staged as is all your work. Great information about the banks and I will keep it mind when marketing my staging company.

David - You've added soul and heart back into this empty, cavernous house.  Love the warm colours and the dining room is wonderful.  Banks that hire stagers are very smart.

David ~ Thank you for your nice comments.  We love using rugs to really ground a space, while providing an interesting design element that enhances the room.

Laura ~ Appreciate it.

Kathy ~ I'm sure we could both find things to trade to each other from our inventories!  Thanks so much for the feature.  Look forward to meeting you in Vegas.

Cathy ~ Glad to hear that you too are working with a bank asset manager.  Hopefully the relationship will blossom.  Good luck!

Lin ~ We didn't approach the banks directly.  We started by working with Realtors who represent the properties owned by banks.  There is no reason you couldn't approach the asset managers in a bank directly, but we didn't go that route.

Laura ~ Thanks for you comments and good luck with your bank appointments.  They are no different than any other client.  Once they understand the impact of staging and the benefits in the investment, they should want to explore the option.  Not every bank will do it, and each certainly has their own philosophy.

Kristine ~ Thank you! Hope you are able to find a bank in your area that might want to work with a staging company.

Sally ~ Adding life into a property is what we all do and the reason we keep staging.  It's so rewarding to see a property transform before your eyes.

David, what a makeover! And quite an informative post. I wasn't aware of the fact that more banks turn to home stagers for help nowadays))
