Condo units are generally more challenging to stage than houses because of the logistics of elevators, restricted hours, loading zones, and long hallways. Our Portland home staging company has staged several units in the Eliot Tower and the experience at this building has been very positive for us and our clients.
Most recently we staged a condo unit on the 2nd floor which has a great feeling as it is just above street level and you feel like you are right in the city. This unit had previously been used as an office, and now that the owners wanted to sell it, staging it as a home was key.
We used a mix of furnishings and decor that would cater to the target buyer looking for upscale living in a downtown Portland high end building. Now it's just waiting for the perfect buyer!
Here are some before and after pictures.

HOLY COW! that is a huge difference, David! I usually do use a Stager - I would love it if you were in Seattle:)
Great job!
Great job David! Stunning staging designs!
The perfect buyers is right around the corner!! This home looks fabulous!!! Great staging David!
Courtney ~ Thanks for the enthusiastic comments. It's good to know that you support staging. I'm sure your listings stand out as a result. We're only 3 hours away, but it's a little too far! =)
James ~ Thank you!
Heather ~ Appreciate your feedback.
Cathy ~ We certainly hope the buyer comes soon. This price range is a bit difficult in Oregon right now, but we are seeing homes move - just not always super quickly. The feedback from potential buyers has been very positive thought.
I can understand how the feedback received thus far has been positive. You really made it come to life, David.
Congratulations. Your home staging is being featured in the group Staging Before and After Pictures.
Kathy
David - as always I love your staging style! Great work and hope it is reflected in a quick offer! Were these your photos - they are really good!
Kathy ~ We really appreciate the feature. Thanks! It was a great project to do.
Margaret ~ These are our photos. Nik takes all of our pictures. We don't have any fancy photo editing software, so what you see is what you get. Glad you liked the staging. See you soon!
Wow!!! Really nice work David. Your "marketing" for that property really makes a difference. I too hope your "great work is reflected in a quick offer!" Thanks for sharing!
Julie
David: Your photos are gorgeous. I love all your choices for furniture and accessories.
Funny condo story (wasn't funny at the time though): We staged a condo in a secure building that required a key to operate the elevator to make it leave the lobby (it would go down to the lobby without the key). The elevator was small and only one of us could go up at a time with a load of accessories. One of my assistants rode up with a load using the key. She came back down, but she had left the key in the condo we were staging. My bag with all my files was also up in the condo so I couldn't call the listing agent. This was a smaller building and apparently everyone had 9:00-5:00 jobs and had left for work. We pushed all the residents' doorbells and didn't get a single answer. We sat in the lobby until a dog walker showed up to walk a resident's dog about 2 hours later. Gah!
Now, no one gets the keys except me even if I have to unload every last bin myself:o))
Great job!! I love that art work in the living room.
Love how the decor flows from one space to the next. Julie
David -- the condo looks great (as do Nik's photos) and I'm sure buyers will be flocking to see it! That chaise you used is a fun piece. Good luck for a quick sale :-)
Very nice work, David! I especially like what you did to the living room. I have similar starburst mirrors and the same white flower pot for my orchids : )
David,
You definitely achieved the upscale look you were going for! Each room contains pieces that are perfect for the space -- simple and so elegant! Love your work, thanks for sharing it with us!
Julie ~ Marketing a property to show its best is always important, especially in this market.
Michelle ~ That is a crazy key story. I'm sure you were going crazy - I know I would have. There's always some new adventure out there, isn't there? Thanks for your comments.
Elysse ~ Thank you.
Maureen ~ I think they've been getting a lot of showings, just not the right buyer yet. There is a lot of competition in condo units and many people like to live high up, although I really enjoyed the feeling of being right there near the street. That chaise is from Dania, it works great in these type of spaces.
Claudia ~ Those starburst mirrors are great aren't they? Thanks for your feedback.
Leanne ~ We go for simple and elegant and I'm thrilled that you picked up on that. Thank you!
Hi David,
Well if I wasn't impressed before (and I was) I am certainly "wowed" by this project. You and Nik do spectacular work!
"Condo units are generally more challenging to stage than houses because of the logistics of elevators, restricted hours, loading zones, and long hallways"
I completely agree with that statement. It is amazing how longer it can take to schlepp inventory in and out of a condo.
Staging condos helped me overcome a fear of heights. Being 40 or 50 floors up with floor to ceiling windows still freaks me out a little though :)
David....this is a gorgeous condo and the staging is phenomenal!! LOVE the photos....makes me almost want to move to Portland....but I do notice it look to be raining outside!!
The furniture and accessories compliment this space perfectly David, spectacular job!
David - This condo is gorgeous - you are so talented! I too love the two-person chaise, and also the zebra chair in the living area. It's so pretty the way you can see the greenery of the trees outside the windows. Condos are far more complex to stage than houses for all the reasons you listed above. You rocked it!
Jackson ~ We really appreciate your comments! This was a great project and we were very pleased with the results. Typically condos are a pain, but luckily the management of this building is very accommodating. I didn't know you were scared of heights, but there's nothing like working high in the sky to get over it quickly! Hope all is well in Canada!
Kathy ~ Of course it was raining - it's Portland! =) Fortunately there was a covered loading dock for this job so we weren't staging in the rain which is never fun, but inevitable up here.
Karen ~ Thanks! Some of the furnishings were new and we're looking forward to using them again!
Sally ~ The zebra chair is a new favorite. It doesn't work in every space, but really fit in this type of condo. The setting really is beautiful for a downtown unit. Thanks for your comments.
David,
The look you achieved is so perfect for the Condo. Every room is stunning... I love the Dining Room and Living Room combo they really tied together well. Outstanding staging and photos as always!
David...Love, love, love that living room photo. The contrasting, mixed use of pattern, not to mention the "sun-burst" mirror really make that room pop. You guys obviously have a great eye for "pairing" and "scale". Well done.
Linda ~ Thanks so much! We had actually debated which side to put the living room on, but were pleased with the final results.
David ~ Thank you, really appreciate your comments. We enjoy mixing different styles and looks that best suit the space.
