There are so many unique homes in the Portland area, and we always look forward to the opportunity to stage these properties. This completely remodeled Craftsman is one of those properties that we fell in love with even before we staged it.

The small scale and layout of the rooms presented several challenges that you can see below. The living room has a small bedroom immediately off of it. The room also has a door that leads to a hall between the kitchen and bathroom. When it was empty the room felt like nothing more than an unusable pass through. By staging it as a guest room with a lounger to keep it more casual off the living room, the space was immediately defined and had a purpose.

The dining room was very small so we used a glass table to keep the space open. In order to keep a nice flow to the kitchen we had to center the table in the space instead of under the chandelier. We staged the table with a low bowl instead of a larger centerpiece which would have drawn attention to fact that the table was not centered beneath the chandelier.

We also staged the downstairs Master Suite which requires a walk through the laundry room and furnace area. It felt like a carpeted basement that had no warmth or connection to the rest of the home. The staging shows how cozy and inviting the room can be.

Your staging is absolutely wonderful.
The lounger in the guest room is a testament to the impact staging can have. I looked at that vacant picture and didn't have a clue as to what room that was. With the lounger in place and your creative staging, the answer became loud and clear.
Congratulations. Your post is being featured in the group staging Before & After Pictures.

David: Very nice work! Your choice of colors and furnishings are just right for the space. Thanks for sharing.
What a beautiful job! I LOVE how you overcame the obstacles of the layout and transformed it into a lovely home. The furnishings, accessories, colors-- looks wonderful!
very nice, you always do a beautiful job.
I'm a stager. I'm in the business. I'm always blown away at the before and after photos.
Why would anyone try to sell a vacant home?
That little bar or cubby area would have been lost without those touches - yours make a huge difference
beautiful, inviting, shows the space well. what can I say. another staging success story.
Kathy ~ Thanks for the feature. While large spaces can be overwhelming and often need to be defined, small spaces tend to be the most challenging for buyers when they are empty.
Debra ~ Thank you.
Michele ~ Appreciate your feedback. It's always rewarding to take a space with challenges and successfully present it for potential buyers.
Chrissie ~ Thanks!
Virginia ~ I totally agree. There is just no comparison to an empty and professionally staged home.
Malita ~ Glad you noticed the built in since the picture isn't very large. The built in is a key feature in the dining room.
Michelle ~ Thanks. Hope to let you know soon if it's a quick success story!
Looks like doorways, windows, floro plan, light fixture locations - all were working against you, but you WON! It looks wonderful!
Beautiful touch with the lounger! You took an easily overlooked space and gave it purpose, design, and warmth- way to go!
Beautiful presentation David. I think staging really helps people understand how they can have a modern life in an historic home. Your staging sets off the architecture wonderfully.
Hey I have that same horizontal IKEA art you hung over the bed. I love it!
Wendy ~ Thanks for making me smile. Glad we won the battle!
Tamara ~ That lounger has worked in many smaller rooms that need a more casual look or can't quite accommodate the look of a full bed, and is a step above a futon.
Tessa ~ That piece of art is so tranquil and a great accent in the right space.
David, you are a very talented stager/designer. Your properties are always well thought out and put together beautifully...always enjoy seeing your work.
Margaret ~ Thanks for the nice feedback.
