Synergy Staging was recently asked to stage a lovely ranch in Canby. When we went to review the property and take photos they were in the midst of preparing for an estate sale. After the sale the house was prepped for staging and we went to work. The house is just about to hit the market and we are hopeful for a quick sale.
As you can see this home was very traditional with window treatments in almost every room that the owners didn't want removed. It was also a custom house that is wheelchair accessible. For that reason it is being marketed to an older demographic which we had to keep in mind when putting together the staging design.
We've also been following the lead of another Portland Stager, Pangea, and using more original art in our staged houses. Nik has been doing more painting lately. The Master Bathroom below features one of his more recent paintings.
Here are some pictures of the before and after results.

David, it looks like a really nice job of staging. I hope it sells quick, it should.
Big improvement!
I think you took about 20 years off this house -- looks fabulous! (Wish you could turn back the clock for me that easily!)
Gabe ~ Thanks for your comments. I'll update when it sells.
Jessica ~ Appreciate it!
Margaret ~ Thank you. We tried to take years off without going too contemporary, keeping the target buyers in mind. Missed you yesterday!
What a difference updated furnishings can make. By having the updated furniture, the other items in the home are not as dated feeling. Here is hope for a quick sale. It was great to see you both yesterday.
Todd ~ Thank goodness we weren't asked to work with the furniture that was in the house before! And the staging really did tame the window treatments. See you soon!
David, awesome staging job! I think this home will appeal to many different demographics, not just older people. And I am crazy about Nik's artwork in the bathroom! I wish you had a close up of it, it really is stunning.
Peg ~ - Thanks for the feedback. Here is a closer photo of the painting. It's cropped from the original photo, so bear with the quality.
Wow, he really has an eye for this! I've done a little dabbling in making my own art on canvas, but nothing this wonderful. Tell him it's an inspiration. (We all know what art costs, so this is such a bonus for you guys to be able to do this.) Thanks for the close up.
Peg ~ I'll let him know! We'll share some more of his art in the coming weeks.
David: yes a great difference between the before and after. The photography is much better in the after photos as well. Did you hire a professional photographer?
It's another thought. A pro can really show off the work you have done to bring this house up to date.
Great post.

great job. I love the warmer colors you used. It makes the house feel cozier. It looks much better. I'm sure it will appeal to a wide variety.
Great Job, David! I love how you placed the furniture and the colors you used. It's exactly the way I would have done it. :-D
Michael ~ Thanks for the comments. We've thought about hiring a pro for certain properties, but we actually took both before and after pictures. More care and better lighting are used in the after shots.
Chrissie ~ Appreciate your feedback. It's amazing what warm colors can do to a space, huh?
Diane ~ Thank. Glad we're on the same page!
David -- wonderful job staging this ranch-style home. You really updated it while still keeping it appealing to the target buyer. Good luck, hope it sells quickly for your client!
Maureen ~ Thanks so much! It was a fine balances, but everyone was pleased with the outcome. We'll see what happens next!
